The pure Great Andamanese are extinct now and admixed individuals belonging to the tribe are known to be alive.
They are believed to be the ascendants of the now-extinct Jangil tribe.
Little Andaman offers surfing, boating through the creeks, and visits to an elephant logging plantation. Their language is expected to be an isolated Austro-Asiatic language.Day by day the number of tribesmen is decreasing rapidly. Referred to as the chadda, each tiny abode measures a mere 0.9 metres high and can accommodate two or three individuals.
They are getting in contact with diseases against which they have no immunity. The Jarawa are one of the last Afro-Asian peoples of the Andaman Islands in India.
The people or tribes of the Andaman Islands are divided into several groups according to differences of language and culture.
Other occupations in which they are involved include hunting, fishing, raising pigs, pottery and making canoes.
