Dr. John Layton Bartlett Dr. John Layton Bartlett, 92, died May 13, 2020, at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After graduation from Transylvania College, he accepted employment as the office manager for National Distillers in Frankfort. He retired from the full-time ministry in 2006 and moved to Oklahoma City, where he continued to preach and play the piano for services at assisted living facilities. After his service to our country he and Marie moved back to Covington where he was employed at the Covington IGA. Cathy Vanderipe John also was elected to the Warren County Council and served 24 years as a County Councilman.John earned Master Gardener distinction from Danville Community College and grew much admired flower and vegetable gardens.
